Hello, this is Professor Cipher calling forth all members of the Slifer Red Dorm. Your goal is to qualify for Ra Yelow Dorm and move up in the the hierarchy of academia, which is why I come to you with both a great practice to do so and little help toward affording that all-important restest. Your goal will be to construct a functioning deck using the theme given to you below that can be both competitive and fun. A side deck is encouraged for the deck as well, so please take that into consideration.

Your assignment will be this: You are to create a deck incorporating either Pyro and/or Rock monsters into your primary strategy. This assignment shouldn't take too much effort and it could very well go a long way toward improving your deck building skills, which we know are very important when testing for a dorm.

Grading Criteria Basics:

Naturally, there will be a reward for completing this homework. You can earn up to 100 DP by turning in a deck that meets or exceeds the expectations of the criteria above. Upon finishing your deck, you can post a screenshot of it in this thread where it will be graded by me. You will be awarded an amount of DP in accordance to how it compares to the grading criteria. You may only complete this assignment once. Other members are free to offer tips and advice that could help make any decks turned in better.

A valiant effort toward sprucing up a beloved old archetype. Lavals are a fun deck, and you have good ratios on most of your main deck monsters. You seem to have multiple elements of a beatdown strategy coupled with some strong synchro plays, which are what the deck specializes in. I'd say to drop some of the Strikes or Warning because their LP cost can interfere with your Soul Charge, which with the limiting of Rekindling, is one of your only big play makers. Not to mention that you'll have plenty of negation with Flamvell Counter. If you insist on having some Solemns, drop 1 Flamvell Counter, 1 Strike, and the Warning for a nice ratio of negation cards. The Warrior Returning Alive doesn't help you too much either, and I think you'd be better off with a few more utility cards in its place, such as Maxx C to improve your draw power. I think you'd be better of replacing the Utopia Prime with another synchro, such as Quasar/Sifr/Blazar which you can make pretty easily in this deck. The Kachi Kochi Dragon can be taken out to make room for another more useful extra deck monster, but I know how much you love that card. Laval Stannon and Dual Slasher would also help in increasing your synchro offensive power. All in all, it's a nice, fun deck that should be able to function effectively (despite you saying that you didn't test it at all). If you work on it a little more, I bet that you could make it good enough to win you a spot in Yellow. I'd also suggest making a side deck for it as well.

For your effort, I'll award you 70 DP. Take my advice to heart and look forward to the next homework assignment.
